Planning Journal- Titles research

Titles Research

Our group decided to create a survey in order to collect information about preferred titles , their appearance and when they appear during the extract. Furthermore we handed out 20 surveys to a random group, made up of Students, family members and teachers and after collecting the data we were able to make conclusions which helped and informed us about which type of titles are the most suited and appropriate for both the genre and narrative.

After collecting our results we found out that a majority of the 20 people would prefer the credits/titles to appear over the action on the screen. This is significant as having titles during the extract makes the sequence come across as more of an opening, rather than the end or middle of the film.We also found out that 'Unorthodox' was the most liked name out of the possible 5. In addition my group was quite glad about this particular name being the most liked, due to us liking this title the most too.

The title 'Unorthodox' mimics the personality of the antagonist within the extract due to him being presented as a strange character with abnormal qualities. In addition the title will imply that the un-usual behavior of the antagonist is important and that his behavior has a large impact as to why the events take place within the sequence

Definition of 'Unorthodox'-

Another point to note is that the survey depicted that people prefer the titles/credits to be in sans-serif font and again we are pleased with this preference as we believe that this particular font is engaging and professional.
